The Fourth Biennale for Israeli Ceramics –
Territory and Identity: Between Ceramics and Architecture
The Fourth Biennale for Israeli Ceramics -Territory and Identity: Between Ceramics and Architecture offers a platform for a critical look at Israel’s identity by way of its cultural strata and the processes of its formation within conditions of a continuing conflict around the issue of the legitimacy of its presence in the region. Israel prefers to define its identity by combining its historical rights to its ancestral land with the vision of the establishment of a modern, democratic society.

The Biennale proposes a wide spectrum of ideas for the understanding of Israeli identity and charts the way to a regional cultural dialogue based on tolerance and open-mindedness. The all-encompassing exhibition, unfolding broad conceptual horizons, can be attributed to several artists who were willing to consider it not only as an opportunity to exhibit their work but as an important contribution to the debate on the nature of our society’s cultural identity.
