Population growth and massive emigration to the city put many challenges of urban planning at the global and local level. Integration of urban densification and mixed uses has become embedded in the sustainable dialogue as an acceptable policy for dealing with high natural growth and demand for housing in the city. This policy, whose aims are preventing urban sprawl and reviving urban fabric while reducing the ecological stepping requires an examination of usable spaces in the city for the benefit of their rational utilization in response to the needs of the city.
