Tamir elementary school with 18 classes, library, laboratories, administration and additional educational functions, was designed as a Green School that integrates between the educational curriculum and the every-day life of the pupils within the school.

The building is based on an assembly of buildings surrounding a double story open atrium with a roofed garden, which is a direct continuation of the outdoor spaces surrounding the school. This allows nature to be an integral part of the building. The connection between the different learning spaces to the atrium and the outdoor areas emphasizes the relationship between the students and their natural surroundings, and creates a verity of possibilities for informal learning areas in the school.

The design takes into consideration air quality, natural light, acoustics, energy and water saving while using local recyclable materials.

The school received the Gold LEED standard which is the highest ranking of the American green building rating system.
